Abstract

The article presents a letter from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) to senators Roy Blunt and Patty Murray and representatives Rosa DeLauro and Tom Cole to report on the need for the education department to immediately address the inaccurate restraint and seclusion data in the K-12 education system. Topics include the adverse effects of restraint and seclusion to school boys and students with disabilities and the department's Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC).
