Abstract

This article focuses on the future of higher education. The future of higher education will be determined by a range of factors such as money made available, access to a wider range of students, quality of teachers, government regulations, and quality control. Higher education is expanding at a rate which inevitably changes its character and its aims. Courses are often geared to vocational ends rather than to the disinterested pursuit of knowledge and the perfection of intellect. Even the language has shifted from that of a transaction between teacher and learner to one of providing a service to a client.
