Abstract
- This article presents the report of the Council of the Sociological Society for the year 1910. A prolonged disturbance in the sphere of politics inevitably militates against the well-being of a learned society, more especially when, as in the case of the Sociological Society, its activities are related in greater or less degree to all the influences of social development and change. The Society has maintained its position, and has, in fact, received during the past few months a larger measure of public notice, especially in the way of press reports, than it has enjoyed since the first years of its existence. This is due, doubtless, partly to the fact that the papers have in the main dealt with subjects rather closely concerned with contemporary problems, but also, it may be said, to the growing recognition of the fact that the Society is rendering a valuable service in providing a platform upon which questions of high importance to civilized society may be discussed without reference to sectional or party interests.
