Abstract
- The article focuses on the book "The Venetian Glass Nephew," by Elinor Wylie. The purpose of Mrs. Wylie's charming fantasy is to capture in a poet's mind a moment of beauty in the declining Renaissance. A previous novel has shown how skillfully she can catch the flavor, half absurd and wholly delightful, of a vanished society; and now her imagination, flitting from age to age in a search for delicate perfumes, has lit upon Venice at that moment in the eighteenth century when its twilight charm was fading before the garish beams of French enlightenment.
