Abstract
- This paper emphasizes the need for greater protection of religious freedom in law to address the increasing conflict between law and religion in Australia. Topics covered include role of Christianity in the origins of common law and the legal system brought about by the colonists who arrived in Western Australia, relationship between law and religion during the foundation years of the colony, and contemporary attitudes to religion in Australia.
