An appropriate role for ethics in teaching contemporary issues.

The article focuses on the appropriate role of ethics in animal science in teaching and addressing contemporary issues in a morally responsible manner. It explains the nature of policy issues and the nature, conflicts and complexity of values. It discusses the use of reconstruction and deconstruction of issues in ways that enhance understanding for moral perspectives and respect for diversity as well as the ability to distinguish between situations particularly when it subjects minority groups.
