Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of a four stroke spark ignition engine, using Diesel- RKl software. The models created in this digital tool are Multi-Zone type, and they rely on other submodels, defined by the authors, that are inserted in the main model. These submodels are the friction, the fuel, the gas exchange, the heat exchanges and the combustion, with an emphasis in the last one, which is offundamental importance for the achievement of the results. With the model created, adjusted to the experimental data, a second phase of obtaining result has began; changes in the intake and exhaust valves opening have been proposed in order to find conditions capable to reduce specific fuel consumption. At the end of the work, it has been observed that it would be possible to obtain a reduction o f the specific fuel consumption of up to 13%, to certain conditions of operation, however, the applicability of these results cannot be guaranteed due to some environmental law requests.
