Abstract
- This article presents information on a scuffle that took place between a group of white population and Negroes in a train. It is informed that in the course of the fight the white men were thrown off the train, all but one who landed between two cars was dragged back to safety by one of the Negroes. The men who were thrown off were not too much injured and rushed to the nearest station at Steventon to tell their story to the telegraph operator and to have a wire sent to the train a station or two up ahead. As the train reached Paint Rock, Alabama, all the Negroes who were on board were taken off and the whole party was taken to the Scottsboro jail.
