Abstract

This paper tries to identify some of the main stellar constellations supposedly identified by the Inkas and their conception of space and time in the context of archaeoastronomy. Archaeoastronomy is not hard science; but it is still of transcendental importance in seeking to establish a bridge between the past and the present of astronomy and related sciences. "Archaeoastronomy is a discipline devoted to the study of the astronomical observations preceding the invention of the telescope. It has highlighted the great importance that ancient civilizations attributed to celestial phenomena and demonstrated how the analysis of the testimonies of this interest can greatly help us in the understanding of the past history of mankind". Based on this conception, these constellations were collected through the study of manuscripts, documents, chronicles, interviews, and the oral tradition of different Quéchua‐speaking peoples in the Andes as well as their conceptions about space and time.
