Abstract

The present research focuses on evaluating the kinetics for the liquefaction process and optimizing the process variable using Design expert software to maximize oil yield and by suppressing by‐products like gas and char. Optimum conditions for the maximum yield of oil (25.04%) was calculated as375°C, 45 min retention time, 3–5 mm particle size and at a constant heating rate of 15 °C min−1. Coats Redfern's approach showed maximum R2 of 0.9459 which requires less activation energy of 61.44 kJ kg−1 mol−1. The endothermic heat required for liquefaction was 20.91 MJ kg−1. The calorific value of oil was measured as 6.502 MJ kg−1. © 2018 American Institute of Chemical Engineers Environ Prog, 38: 489–499, 2019 [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
