Abstract

Building on the previous work regarding the assessment tools developed based on the Service Leadership Education model, this paper reports a large-scale validation study on the Service Leadership Knowledge Scale. A total of 4,486 Hong Kong undergraduates recruited from eight universities funded by the government were administered the Service Leadership Knowledge Scale (Short-Form) with 50 items (SLK-SF-50). After the initial internal consistency assessment, 40 items were retained to form the trimmed version (SLK-SF-40). Confirmatory factor analysis provided support for the hypothesized one-factor structure of the SLK-SF-40 and correlation analyses showed that the scale score was significantly related to different theoretically relevant constructs. The findings demonstrated that the trimmed Service Leadership Knowledge Scale (SLK-SF-40) is an objective measure in gauging individuals' knowledge about Service Leadership. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
