The problems of nation and national development of the Ukrainian community in Ivan Franko’s social and philosophical heritage in the context of modern Ukraine’s development tendencies were described and substantiated in thearticle; it was found out that the writer–philosopher treated the nation as the supreme form of the ethnic group existence, whose vital activity should be fully ensured by the state, and he considered the solution of the national issue in balance with the cultural and civilizational one – taking into consideration all the directions.
