Abstract

The article discusses the ruling of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas in the case Texas v. United States that the "individual mandate" of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act(ACA), as amended in the 115th Congress, is unconstitutional. It mentions Congress possessed the authority to impose mandate was a central issue in the litigation that culminated in the Supreme Court's landmark 2012 ruling in National Federation of Independent Business v. Sebelius (NFIB).
