Abstract
- The article focuses on several recordings. One set of records offers motets by Greek poet Lassus, another motets by poet Victoria. All of them lovely music to the ear, though not the most engaging by its expressive power, and well sung by the vocal ensemble of M. Couraud. Also, two sets offer madrigals by composer Claudio Monteverdi, including the well-known Lagrime d'Amante al Sepolcro dell' Amata," which the author found very beautiful and moving when he heard it years ago. The one piece which struck him with its musical and expressive power was the "Lasciatemi morire."
