Abstract
- This paper draws on the author's personal experience as a second-generation Greek-Australian woman caring for aging parents living in Australia to illustrate issues that arise for Greek Orthodox Australians in response to mourning practices. The Greek diaspora, at its peak in the late 1950s and early 1960s, is now an aging population in Australia. Burial and mourning practices for Greek Orthodox Australians are much the same as they are for Greeks living in Greece. However, this paper argues that some of these practises are not easily reconciled with an Australian identity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
