Abstract
- This article presents information on banking interests which have launched a vigorous counter-offensive against Democratic criticism of the Administration's public-power policies. A recent issue of the financial newsletter, issued by the Guaranty Trust Company was largely given over to a defense of the Dixon-Yates agreement. The article was quickly picked up by Republican papers and used as the basis of editorial comment. Buried in it is an explanation of the fundamental Republican concern over the public-power policies. This concern relates more to the future than to the present or the past. The country faces a period of rapid expansion of electric power, the increase in demand from 1950 to 1960 may be as high as 100 per cent.
