Abstract
- The article discusses the business forecast of Canada in the year 1950 with references from statements by Dominion Minister of Trade and Commerce C.D. Howe. If this forecast proves accurate, Canadians may look forward to a very prosperous year, for in 1949, production, national income, and employment were at their all-time peaks. Although Canada's financial position is strong and in spite of being a country endowed with great natural resources, it is by no means self-sufficient. To establish a working balance of payments with its two chief trade partners Canada needs to cut its purchases from the United States by about 15 per cent and to increase imports from Great Britain by about 100 per cent.
