Abstract

Integrated care is an international phenomenon and one way it has been implemented is through the deployment of specialist nurses. The literature is limited in reviewing the role and impact of community diabetes nurse specialists. In the Republic of Ireland, the Diabetes Nurse Specialist in Integrated Care (DNSIC) role was created to support the delivery of a national model of integrated care. Using semi-structured interviews, this descriptive study explored GPs' and practice nurses' experiences of working with the DNSIC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
