Abstract
- Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru is touring Assam in order to obtain a first-hand account of the damage Inflicted by the earthquake which shook the province three weeks ago as of September 16, 1950. The temporary disruption of communications caused a flock of exaggerated rumors about the extent of the destruction and wild speculation whether Assam might have undergone some dreadful geological change. Fortunately recent reports have dispelled many of these fears. The government of India has been informed that the oil -fields of Dighboi, the only place in India where gasoline is produced, are intact and that production has in no way been affected.
