Abstract
- The article analyzes the book "The Taxis of the Marne," by Jean Dutourd. In this book, Dutourd attempts a leap toward high seriousness in a book which seeks to delineate the decay of France and to propose the path of salvation. The point of departure in the book is the author's recollection and evaluation of his own military role in the war of 1940. Through this experience in this book, Dutourd exposes the politicians, impotent, cynical, empty. Dutourd also suggests that pure emotions and virtuous dedication are only the gateway to a better society.
