Abstract
- A novel method has been developed for the synthesis of 6‐methoxy 2‐aroyl 3‐aryl benzofuran and benzothiophenes from 2‐(3‐Methoxy‐phenoxy or thioxy)‐1‐phenyl‐ethanone and substituted benzoyl chloride through Friedel–Crafts benzoylation and cyclization reaction. The method accepts a variety of functional groups on the benzoyl chloride. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
