Abstract

The purpose of the research was to establish the links between the main characters which contributes to the realizationof production on the beans plant. The biological material studied was composed of landraces and varieties of dwarf beans. The landraces come from western Romania. The experimentation was done in field conditions. The experimental data was collected by biometric measurements carried out on representative samples. Statistical analysis was performed by determining the variance and covariance, the correlation coefficients and the coefficients "path". The results show that between the studied characters there are predominantly linear relations. The weight and the number of grains per plant are directly correlated with the number of grains in the pod. The grain weight per plant is correlated with the number of pods per plant, but also with the weight of grains from the pod. The plant productivity is influenced in the largest proportion bz numer of grains per plant (P=0.718) and by the grain weight on the plant (P=0.803). The grains weight of the pod and the grains number on the plant have an indirect effect on the relationship between the length of the pod and the weight of the grains, but also on the links between the grains number in the pod and the grains weight on the plant. Knowledge of these correlations is useful for the processing of landracesin the breeding process through selection, the landraces being an important source of variability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
