Abstract

The article presents literature related to rural sociology. Migration, training and occupation of youth from two areas of Utah one, six and eleven years after high school graduation have been studied. Study of characteristics of the Negro population including number, residential and geographic distribution, age and sex distribution, occupation, education and income have been done with the study of trends and comparisons with white population. Nature and extent of socioeconomic and attitude differences in French and non-French ethnic groups in rural Louisiana are taken in account. Sample area from three types of communities, French predominant language, English predominant language, French and English approximately equal. Comparison of Maine's contract broiler growers 1957 and 1963 as to socioeconomic characteristics and characteristics of the operation have been done. An examination of economic trends in the Appalachian economy using Bureau of Census data. Most comparisons for 1950 and 1960.
