Abstract
- An architecture for a quantum computer in which there is no need to address quantum bits individually has been proposed by researchers at Oxford University, England. Scientists claim the design can be applied to any potential quantum computing system, whether it uses ions in an optical trap, electron spins in quantum dots or the nuclear spins of atoms lined up in a carbon nanotube. An algorithm is performed by sending a sequence of signals to the whole device, and data is loaded and unloaded via a shift process.
