Abstract
- Three polyoxovanadate-based hybrids {[Ru(phen)<subscript>3</subscript>]<subscript>2</subscript>[V<subscript>4</subscript>O<subscript>12</subscript>]}·13H<subscript>2</subscript>O (1), [Ru(phen)<subscript>3</subscript>]<subscript>2</subscript>[V<subscript>10</subscript>O<subscript>28</subscript>]·15H<subscript>2</subscript>O (2), and [Ru(phen)<subscript>3</subscript>]<subscript>2</subscript>[V<subscript>6</subscript>O<subscript>17</subscript>]Cl·11H<subscript>2</subscript>O (3) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) were prepared under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy (IR), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), thermogravimetric (TG) analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Although the structures of both the cyclic vanadate [V<subscript>4</subscript>O<subscript>12</subscript>]<superscript>4−</superscript> and the [V<subscript>10</subscript>O<subscript>28</subscript>]<superscript>6−</superscript> anions are well-known, interestingly, a novel 1-dimensional (1-D) coordination polymer [V<subscript>6</subscript>O<subscript>17</subscript>]<subscript>n</subscript><superscript>4n−</superscript> anion was constructed from tetranuclear [V<subscript>4</subscript>O<subscript>12</subscript>]<superscript>4−</superscript> and dinuclear [V<subscript>2</subscript>O<subscript>7</subscript>]<superscript>4−</superscript> building blocks, which were linked alternately through corner-shared oxygen atoms. Furthermore, the negative charges of polyoxovanadate [V<subscript>4</subscript>O<subscript>12</subscript>]<superscript>4−</superscript>, [V<subscript>10</subscript>O<subscript>28</subscript>]<superscript>6−</superscript> and [V<subscript>6</subscript>O<subscript>17</subscript>]<superscript>4−</superscript> anions were balanced by two [Ru(phen)<subscript>3</subscript>]<superscript>2+/3+</superscript> complex cations. The catalytic properties of compounds 1–3 for the oxidation of 1-phenyl ethanol by tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) were investigated, and the results demonstrated that 1 and 3 exhibited excellent catalytic activities for the oxidation of 1-phenyl ethanol under mild catalytic conditions.
