Abstract

This issue presents the first half of a study that explores recurring waves of social mood in early history. In our study, we survey historical data and written records that reveal the social expressions of largedegree fluctuations in social mood in five societies--China, England, Russia, Rome and France--over the past two thousand years. History offers valuable perspective for modern times. The world is quite different today, yet the social expressions impelled by large-degree trends in mood are much the same. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
