Abstract
- The article argues that health information exchange and interoperability remain poor in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, despite progress in adoption of health information technology (HIT). It highlights need of investments in data normalization for using interoperability to improve clinical care, clinical decision support, and performance measurement.
