Abstract

Case: We report a rare case of complete rupture of the right femoral nerve at the pelvic level, which was caused by a selfinflicted stab wound. The nerve was surgically reconstructed with use of an autologous sural nerve cable graft. Postoperatively, the patient's sensorimotor function returned to near normal. Conclusion: Femoral nerve rupture caused by a laceration is very unusual. A bilateral sural nerve cable graft performed in collaboration with surgeons from other specialties achieved a good outcome in this otherwise healthy young patient. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
