Abstract
- The article offers information regarding use of Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) for tau deacetylation which is determined as an effective strategy for inhibiting tau aggregation and propagation in tauopathies. It mentions that Tau is a microtubule-associated protein that forms pathogenic inclusions in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease (AD). It states that SIRT1 helps in regulation of autophagy by promoting proteasomal degradation, through post-translational modifications.
