Abstract

The article explores how big data and machine learning techniques can be utilized by high-technology intensive care units (ICUs) and ICU clinicians in their daily practice. Topics covered include development of a continuously learning healthcare system, intellectual property and patient consent issues that may arise from large-scale acquisition of medical data, and impact of machine learning on the problem of multiple testing and false positive associations.
