Abstract
- Mg<superscript>2+</superscript> doped Bi<subscript>2</subscript>WO<subscript>6</subscript> photocatalysts were synthesized through a hydrothermal method. Chemical compositions, morphologies, and photocatalytic activities of the products were studied. The Mg<superscript>2+</superscript> doped Bi<subscript>2</subscript>WO<subscript>6</subscript> was constructed by many loosely connected nanosheets and the surface area was greatly increased. The crystal lattice was distorted and the absorption edges were red-shifted after Mg<superscript>2+</superscript> doping. When added 1.0% molar ratio of Mg(NO<subscript>3</subscript>)<subscript>2</subscript> in the precursor, the Mg<superscript>2+</superscript> doped Bi<subscript>2</subscript>WO<subscript>6</subscript> product showed the best photocatalytic activity, and 94.1% RhB was decomposed after 45 min irradiation, which was 24.6% higher than that of the undoped one. Reasons for the improved photocatalytic activity were proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
