Abstract

Deep Mill Level Zone (DMLZ) is an underground mine operation by PT.Freeport Indonesia in West Papua Province that using block caving as its mining method and it is important to use the microseismic sensor as the monitoring device for the worker's safety. The data collected on this research was from DMLZ area on level 2400-2800 mdpl where there are 32 times earthquake which has a high possibility to create severe damage on the underground mining operation. By Applicating the focal mechanism, the source mechanism that happen on the earthquake, the direction of the earthquake and also the cause of the event can be determined. From those 32 events, double couple (DC) mechanism dominated the focal mechanism type on this area, but the highest possibility to create damage on this area showed by the compensated linear vector dipole (CLVD) type which created a severe damage on the area.
