Abstract
- This article focuses on the association of Paul Elmer with the journal "The Nation." To anyone familiar with his political and literary conservatism, Paul Elmer More might seem an unlikely editor of a publication noted for political liberalism and service to 20th century literature. Born in St Louis, Missouri in 1864. More came East in 1892, with bachelor's and master's degrees from Washington University. His editorial connection with The Nation began in 1903, when he was offered the literary editorship of the New York Evening Post since 1881.
