Abstract

This article focuses on concerns of France on the Vietnam conflict and its efforts to end it. French are desperately trying to create conditions wherein the U.S. might still consider a conference. Hence the semi-official Franco-North Vietnamese negotiations. Hanoi, Vietnam appears sympathetic to the `French proposals, although it is torn between this approach and the Russian line that U.S. bombings of North Vietnam must cease -before any conversations can be considered. Having suffered eight years of "dirty war" in Vietnam, the French have a clear vision of what's going on there now.
