Drivers and Consequences of Business Model Innovation.

The business model and business model innovation concepts have gained popularity in the last years in both research and practice but still lack a solid theoretical foundation and is still a developing and criticized research field. Nevertheless, business model innovation is considered to be a critical source of competitive advantage and one of the most important determinants of firm performance. Most of the research done so far in this topic is qualitative and this study takes a quantitative approach to deepen knowledge and understanding on the main drivers and consequences of business model innovation and the role that incumbent and new entrant firms play on its development.
