Abstract

Nursing is essentially a social activity and the profile of nursing is profoundly influenced by the ever-changing social context within which nursing is practiced. This article describes the diversity in nursing practices in various practices and it is found that the diversity is influenced by religion, different culture, class, occupation and gender. The three countries where the study has been conducted are Canada, Scotland, and Spain. Of particular relevance is the family's position. In Spain the family is considered an integral part of the patient life and as such a fundamental part of his/her care planning.
