Abstract
- The article reflects on impact of vector biology research on old and emerging neglected tropical diseases such as vector-borne diseases (VBDs). Topics include observation of trypanosomes in the human blood in 1901 by surgeon Robert Michael Forde; threat imposed by increase in insecticide resistance on the sustainability of vector control programs in several tropical regions; and research on triatomine-transmitted Chagas disease.
