Abstract

Efficient NIR emission is reported for NaY(MoO<subscript>4</subscript>)<subscript>2</subscript> activated with Nd<superscript>3+</superscript> or Yb<superscript>3+</superscript>. Characteristic emission of rare earth ions is sensitized by MoO<subscript>4</subscript><superscript>-2</superscript> group. The excitation is in the near UV region of 350-400 nm. These phosphors could be useful for modifying the solar spectrum so as to match with the spectral response of c-Si solar cells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
