Abstract
- Geographical researcher John C. Hudson's recent paper on "A Location Theory for Rural Settlement," is an important addition to the sparse literature on this aspect of geography, especially as he emphasizes the need to give further consideration to the process of settling in order to understand settlement form. One can expect that Hudson's theoretical contributions and methodology will be employed in other empirical investigations. There is a need in the measurement and interpretation of rural settlement patterns both on a theoretical and on a more local descriptive level, to differentiate between the patterns created by farm holdings and those resulting from farmhouse distributions.
