Abstract
- Recent work on the distribution of central places has suggested that, when defined in terms of the range and threshold of a good, a hierarchical spatial structure of central places will occur The results of a central place investigation Presented here show that variations in the settlement pattern of an area preclude such a development. Instead, variations in the ratio between threshold and range values show that, in any part of the area studied, the spatial structure of central places does not correspond with an overall hierarchy.
