A comprehensive study of structural and electrical properties of SnO2 and Sn0.95Mn0.05O2.

Abstract
- SnO<subscript>2</subscript> and Sn<subscript>0.95</subscript>Mn<subscript>0.05</subscript>O<subscript>2</subscript> have been successfully synthesized by co-precipitation and solid state reaction method respectively. The synthesized samples were characterized by XRD, FTIR and two probe resistivity measurements. XRD spectra revealed the single tetragonal phase and FTIR spectroscopy shows the presence of the functional group in the samples. The average crystallite sizes calculated by Williamson Hall method are found to 30.2 nm for host SnO<subscript>2</subscript> and 11.3 nm for Mn doped sample. DC resistivity measurement of pure SnO<subscript>2</subscript> exhibits the semiconductor behaviour whereas Mn doped SnO<subscript>2</subscript> depicts unexpected metal to insulator transition.
