Abstract

This article presents information on the first ten years of publishing the "Journal of Child and Family Studies." The author provides background on the idea for this journal and the creation of a single-source periodical that focused on research, evaluation, practice, and policy issues with children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance and their families. In the first 10 years, the journal has published 308 papers. Of these, 220 were data based, with 211 using quantitative and 9 qualitative methodologies, 18 were reviews or conceptual papers, and 19 were program descriptions. During this period, the Journal has also published seminal articles in a number of fields. It is noted that papers on other systems of care, such as multisystemic therapy, have also appeared in this Journal.
