Abstract
- This article reports on various developments related to the field of sociology. The Third World Congress of Psychiatry will be held June 4-10, 1961, in Montreal, Canada, at the invitation of McGill university and under the auspices of the Canadian Psychiatric Association. A symposium of Section O on land-zoning in relation to agricultural, suburban, industrial, forest, and recreational needs of the future is being organized by American Association for the Advancement of Science at the Biltmore Hotel, New York City from December 27-30, 1960. The Illinois Academy of Criminology at the Tenth Annual Meeting held at Northwestern University in May 1960, officers elected include Solomon Kobrin of Illinois Institute for Juvenile Research as President, Francis A. Allen of University of Chicago Law School. The sociologist Wayne Wheeler, who has resigned as Chairman of the Department of Sociology, Park College, has become Field Director of the Kansas City Study of Adult Life. The Study is a project of the Committee on Human Development of the University of Chicago under a grant from the National Institute of Mental Health.
