Abstract

An ubiquitous product is made in Rockland County in New York at Advanced Research Technology Inc. and it is affectionately named glop by the chairman of the company Herbert Schwartz. The glop is an application, in liquid,jelly-like or powder form, that is coated onto products to enable them to withstand extreme temperatures, up to 4400 degrees F and more. That's particularly important to space and melting technologies. More scientifically, it's known as an industrial ceramic-based high temperature material. Sometimes these applications are top secret for government uses.
