Abstract
- The article presents a case study of a 43-year-old male who was transferred to an institution with haemodynamic instability secondary to haematemesis. The patient has a caustic injury to his oesophagus that culminated in an Ivor Lewis oesophagogastrectomy with an intrathoracic gastric conduit after failed endoscopic management. A number of proposed mechanisms is explored by which vulnerability of the intrathoracic gastric conduit to peptic ulceration is conferred.
