Abstract

The article deals with the problem of management culture in Russian Empire in the second half of the 18<superscript>th</superscript> century which tightly connected with the paper-work and art of drawing up documents. The author pays main attention to such type of primary sources as letter-writing guides that were to come to Russia on the turn of the 18<superscript>th</superscript> century. The analysis of guides had shown that they were not only good examples of epistolary norms but also gave instances of official letters which were to be important element of business culture and took part in formation of Russian legal culture. Their role could be easily seen if we look at some prefaces and structure. Some letter-guides had special parts devoted to the description of business letters and other documents.
