Abstract
- The article explores the importance for changing the thinking about art's purpose and the role of art museums in Ireland as of September 2017, highlighting the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA). Topics include the cultural initiatives of the Irish government, the issues raised by IMMA's founding, and the rhetorical value of art. Also discussed are the political conflict in Northern Ireland, art's ethical purpose and social value, and Ireland in the 20th century.
