Does particle disease really exist?

The article presents a study which contradicts wear particles to cause prosthetic loosening by a foreign-body reaction. Histological evidence from samples of periprosthetic tissue is mentioned. Histological counter-evidence from periprosthetic tissue samples is explained. The interpretation of increased wear rate in patients with periprosthetic osteolysis as support for the hypothesis of wear-particle-induced osteolysis is cited.
