Abstract

In order to enable the static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) to perform its maximum function quickly, effectively and safely during an asymmetrical fault, a positive and negative sequence network decoupling space vector (SVPWM) control strategy is proposed in this paper. On the one hand, the control strategy can compensate the negative sequence current during the asymmetrical fault On the other hand, the decoupling can accurately compensate the reactive load. Meanwhile, the application of space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) also improves the utilization factor of DC side voltage. The simulation results indicate that the proposed control strategy not only reduces the fluctuation of the DC side voltage of the STATCOM, prevents the device from withdrawing from the network during the asymmetrical fault, but also compensates the negative sequence current and eliminates the fluctuation quantities in the energy transmission, strengthening STATCOM reactive compensation ability during the asymmetric fault, maintaining the stability of the voltage at the place of grid-connection of the wind power system.
