Abstract

The article focuses on the research of the Ancient Greek and Roman philosophy concerning the conceptional understanding of peace in the Antique ages. Theses of the brilliant Greek and Roman philosophers like Heraclitus, Xenophon, Aristotle, Socrates, Cicero, Polybius, and Marcus Aurelius are being analyzed and introduced as the arguments for the conclusions which demonstrate crucial points of vision of peace not only for ancient philosophers, but for the ancient people on the whole. The topic is both historical and philosophic. As for the authors, we are not inclined to isolate it one from another. The topic was of the special interest for us also because one of the authors is a historian and the other one - a political scientist. So we tried to cover both scientific branches of the researched topic. The article is traditionally divided into three parts - introduction, where the main objects of the research are outlined; the basic part including two subparagraphs devoted to the Greek and Roman thematic; and the conclusion that summarizes the research. Ancient philosophy was outstanding because of regarding the concept of peace meaningful and systematic and it laid the stable foundation for the future philosophic survey in this direction of the human thought.
